Ballin Road Map

Ballin Road Map

  • The player intent: The player is intended to beat all levels to win. Each level gets more difficult and the player will struggle with this game. This game is designed to be relentless and difficult and will test players’ patience.
  • The theme of the game: The theme of the game is an arcade rage game. I tried to go for a more retro feel and I will continue to work on the style of the game. The game is extremely colorful and purposely does not have a restricted color pallet. This is a chaotic game and I want that to be reflected in the colors and lighting.
  • Background/Story: I do not intend for there to be a background or story for this game.
  • Total time to complete game: If someone truly wants to beat my game, they can expect to be playing for at least a couple of hours. Platform movement patterns will most likely need to be memorized and the player will need to develop a strategy to win. The movement also takes a bit to get used to. There are many hidden tactics the player could use to stay alive. For example, the player can save explosive platforms and use them to launch themselves somewhere if their boost isn’t ready.
  • Why did I make the game I did and what was my thought process?: I wanted to make a game that was difficult and overstimulating in a way. I felt that the constant worry of falling because of disappearing platforms would be perfect for this. The player must get points by destroying platforms. This means that to win, the player must survive the level they mold. I wanted the player to have to think about the route they take while also taking the independent variables of the level into consideration. I feel that what I have created accomplishes this.
  • What I will be adding: I may add more but this is what I plan on doing for now: Add animation and particle effects to cannons, add explosive platforms to other levels, add a settings menu, tweak the UI to be more visually appealing, tweak level difficulty as need be, fix bugs, fix any performance issues, and further tweak the game based on what my classmates think off it.
